FAQs

What is a Cadet Pilot Program and how is it different from regular pilot training?

A Cadet Pilot Program is an airline-sponsored pathway where selected candidates are trained from scratch according to the airline’s standards. Unlike regular pilot training, cadets are guaranteed a placement with the sponsoring airline upon successful completion of the program.

Typically, applicants must be between 17 and 34 years old, have completed 10+2 with Physics and Mathematics, hold a valid Class 1 medical fitness certificate, and meet the airline’s English proficiency requirements.

The duration can range from 18 to 24 months, depending on the training structure and weather conditions. This includes ground school, simulator training, and actual flight hours.

It generally involves multiple stages like aptitude and psychometric tests, group exercises, interviews, and a medical fitness assessment. Each airline has its own process, but all aim to evaluate technical aptitude, communication skills, and personality fit.

No. Cadet Pilot Programs are designed for individuals with no prior flying experience. The training covers everything from basic flight principles to advanced aircraft handling.

Several leading airlines such as IndiGo, Air India, and SpiceJet have launched cadet pilot pathways. Availability depends on the airline’s hiring plans.

Costs can range between ₹1 crore to ₹1.7 crore, depending on the airline, training partner, and location of flight training (India or abroad).

Yes. Many banks and financial institutions offer education loans for pilot training. At Pilots Academy, we also assist candidates in connecting with lenders who understand aviation career needs.

Cadet pilots typically receive their airline joining letter within 30–60 days after successful completion of the program, subject to final checks and documentation.

You will begin with single-engine and multi-engine light aircraft for basic flight training, followed by advanced simulator sessions replicating the airline’s fleet type (such as Airbus A320 or Boeing 737).

If you meet all performance benchmarks and complete the program successfully, you will join the sponsoring airline as a Junior First Officer or First Officer.

Fresh cadet pilots in India typically start with a package of around ₹24 lakhs per annum, with significant growth as they gain experience and move towards a Captain’s role.

Preparation involves brushing up on Physics, Mathematics, and English, practising computer-based aptitude tests, and developing communication and problem-solving skills. Pilots Academy offers preparatory sessions to help candidates perform their best.
